A photo redrawn with one continuous line

Turn a photo into a one-line drawing

Upload a photo: a single thread runs across it and settles where the shadows are, until the image appears. Choose a taut thread in straight lines or curves, a thread stretched between nails like string art, a spiral or waves that swell in the dark areas. Add three-color inks, a stroke that thickens in the shadows, then watch the drawing trace itself on video.

How it works

  1. Upload your photo (or drop it onto the preview). A high-contrast portrait gives the best results.
  2. Pick a look, then adjust the stroke type, the number of segments, the inks and the thickness.
  3. Export as PNG, as a single-path SVG (perfect for a plotter) or as an MP4 video where the drawing traces itself before your eyes.

What you can do

  • 4 stroke types: taut thread, nails, spiral, waves
  • 10 ready-made looks
  • Three-color: three inks that blend
  • Stroke modulated by the shadows
  • Animated drawing, seamless loop
  • Single-path SVG, ready for a plotter

FAQ

How can a photo fit in a single line?

At each step, the tool tries dozens of directions and picks the one that crosses the most shadow not yet “drawn”. The line builds up in the dark areas and leaves the light areas almost empty.

What is string art?

It is a drawing made with a single thread stretched between nails set in a circle or a frame. The “Nails” mode works out the order in which the thread goes from nail to nail.

Can I print it with a plotter?

Yes: the SVG export contains the line in one piece (one path per ink), with no fill, ready for a plotter, a cutter or Illustrator.

Are my photos sent over the Internet?

No, all the computing happens in your browser.
